Anonymous8 – The Innocent Beginning

Who are we?  8 women, ranging in age from 35-50.  1 single.  7 married. Most marriages happy or at least stable; some not so happy or stable.  Most married for 15-20 years.

How did we get started?  Simple dinners.  Sans kids.  Sans husbands.  A glass of wine.  And then another glass.  Simple conversations.  And then we started talking about more.  We realized that we all had things to share that could help each other.  The topics centered around our kids and our husbands and our relationships with our husbands. And what it takes to make marriages work at this juncture in our lives for both sides. And then they moved on to what happens in the bedroom, not in detail, but in generalities.  And what this writer discovered, after listening and observing these women, is how important the bedroom and its secrets are to a good marriage.  And how much work it takes to keep marriage going.  And that it takes creativity.  And most important, how few people talk about these things.  Because, the one thing in common the women in good marriages in this group had was a regular and intimate sex life with their husbands.

I began questioning my other friends about some of the things the Anonymous 8 talked about. And they all wanted information, were happy to learn, and had things to share.  So, that is how this blog began.  From learning that there is a need for sharing with those of us who want to work at our marriages and learn how to keep them young.  We kind of became a Sex in the City group for older married women.  At the beginning, these dinners were a jaw-dropping experience when I learned about what other people are doing.  I’m not as shocked or naive any more.  These stories shared by the Anonymous 8 opened my eyes. They made me more open about the things in my marriage  that I had control over, but were not working ..

So, who are we?  Professionals, wives, and mothers.  All of us are working or have worked.  All of us have college degrees, and many have graduate degrees.  All of us have worked in management or above.  All of us, with one exception, rely on our husbands to be the primary income source in our families, so we all have ended up with or chosen to have primary responsibility for running the day-to-day lives of our kids.  Our kids range in age from 4-26.

The goal of this is not to be the sole author, but to provide a forum for sharing stories and things that you normally don’t share.  So, if you have a comment, write to us.
