What are the Men Thinking
“It’s funny to watch them at the neighbors in the summer, having a beer out in the garage with the other men, just watching the house and waiting for their wives to come home. I hear all the time from women how they were given the credit card and told to have fun!”
First, that cracked me up. I could just picture it. But, what, I was wondering, was going on in the mind of those guys? What exactly were they thinking? So, I went back to Pam and asked her if she could find me a husband to question.Apollo, from North Carolina, was brave enough to oblige. However, I did not get the answers I expected. Here’s the interview. It’s SHORT!
1. Do you ever wonder, while the party is going on, what is happening or what the women are talking about?
2. Do the guys ever get together at the same time as the party?
Sometimes
3. If so, what’s talked about and what’s avoided? What do you guys do? Share stories? Beers? Watch sports?
4. Is there any sort of anticipation about or hope for what will be brought home?
Yes, I think so. They talk about sex at the party and come home in the mood.
That’s it! What stunned me is that as opposed to interviewing Pam, who really loaded on the answers, Apollo gave me one-liners. But they certainly sum things up, don’t you think? Patience has its payoffs.
Well, it certainly confirmed my suspicions, but it also made me realize that maybe I was reading into men’s minds a little too much.

Hahahaha leave it to my fellow man to answer so abruptly and without any sign of weakness. now it’s my turn!
1)Yes sometimes, my friends and I have often chatted on why our women get so excited to go to one of these parties, but not so much when we share stories between ourselves. we always come across the radical idea that there are extra fun things done there when we cant see. all in good fun tho.
2)Usually we do, what better excuse to go drinking and do thing we would normally be (justly) reprimanded for?
3)Honestly it’s pretty much just a normal night for us, we always do stories (well not always but no more because of the party). the only thing that differs is “I wonder what odd ball contraption Im going to have to work with”. Obviously this is in jest, we use it more for a way to say the absurd ideas we have in our head without backlash for being insane.
4)OF course! We always hope it to be fun, but we are also a bit leery on the complexity of the item(s). In general we don’t like to be taken to far out of scene as we aren’t as engrossed in the metaphysical portions of the process. I guess “we simple” is easier said, but that would just imply we dont like/want any of the change, which is untrue.
5) Every time without fail. All the sex related talk and object put just one thought in their minds “There’s is no way in hell Im going to miss out on this tonight” lol, that’s probably not verbatim but close enough I think. Hearing about generalized great sex would turn any active person hot, that much in one area has a serious effect.
Well that was fun ^_^. Now obviously just like my answers were divaricate from Apollo’s, other’s will be different from mine. Really what it comes down to is personal comfort. If you dont mind letting a little bit of your private life known(odd coming from an internet spectre I know) then these parties can be fun for all, and really thats what truly matters-that both of you get some fun out of it. Mow being single on the otherhand….thats a whole different ball game…^_^
fun article, I enjoyed. Hope this little bit of intellectual jelly helped in your social experiment.
thank you,
CF
“What stunned me is that as opposed to interviewing Pam, who really loaded on the answers, Apollo gave me one-liners.”
It’s just what we want you to think – they were probably discussing “secret men’s business”.
Locust has told me I am free to go to these whenever I want and I suspect he may even look to support the behaviour in whatever way results in more fun!
Smoph and Al,
Glad you two have cleared up this potential landmine…
Sarah
Dear CF,
That is quite an answer. Very funny. I did learn a couple of things from you.
Like… what am I going to have to work with?
Thanks for the answers.
Sarah
I always enjoy reading the man’s perspective!
Yeah I also wonder what they really talk about, but I guess, they won’t really say if it’s something we don’t want to hear or can’t hear.
Land mine definitely! I mean, Locust would be very disappointed with a raring to go me with new experimental goodies. Glad I cleared it first!! -phew!- :p
So first off, I am a husband. Secondly, in my college years I worked at a sex toy shop to make some extra cash. Let’s just say the experience left me with an interesting perspective. To be honest, there are some toys that are made for, solo use… That being said the majority of products out there are much more fun when there are two people willing to try them out. Sex is supposed to be fun, and sometimes a new toy can make it so(sorry Captain Picard, for the reference in this subject matter). During my time working at the store I found that most people fell into three categories:
1.) Too embarrassed : Some people just cannot explore this area without laughing, and to be honest, it can be a little off putting.
2.) Too comfortable : Some “items” are a little hard to understand at first and it is the person who knows exactly what something strange is and how to use it, who is a little too excited that I worry about it.
3.) Just right : The majority of business I saw at the store were couples just wanting to try something different. They were the best customers. Sure they were a little shy at first, but when you show a couple that a **gasp** vibrator is nothing to be scared of, they get into it.
The one thing I learned working there was to be open to new things. And trust me, as any Husband out there will agree with, anything that gets the wife more in the mood, is a GOOD thing!
Love the responses! Thanks for the input guys. I rarely get the opportunity to hear your thoughts first-hand
Thanks, TheHusBlog, for that. I think you summarized most couples PERFECTLY.
Sarah
Yes… *ahem* Terribly disappointed.
Umm… do you.. maybe…. have a link to any Australian providers?
I would fall into the #2 category above in TheHusBlog’s response. Too bad the men aren’t invited to join the party.
Buzzvibe, that doesn’t surprise me at all!!!
