What Makes Real Women Melt

It’s Not THAT Hard…

We asked a number of women what their husbands do to make them melt.  Here’s what we got in return.  And the trends from these answers are pretty interesting.  You’ll see why.

From Alisa Bowman, author of Project: Happily Ever After and collaborator on 7 NY Times best sellers:

I love watching my husband work with his hands. There’s something about a man being a man that I just find super sexy. So when he’s got a hammer or a power driver or is just shoveling the snow, I want to see him naked as soon as possible.

From Lisa Duggan of Motherhoodblog:

My husband makes me melt when he grows a mustache and goatee. It reminds me of how he looked at twenty-five, when I met and fell madly in love with him.

Julie Sibert of IntimacyinMarriage:

What really makes my heart melt is when my husband hugs me, kisses me or affirms me in front of our children.  It makes me feel valued as his wife – obviously an important message we want our boys to understand.

Kit of Bloggingdangerously (who just won a Bloggies award):

Sometimes my husband kisses me with his tongue in a way that is suggestive of other things.  I don’t know if that’s too risque for you but it drives me wild.

Sarah Robinson of Escaping Mediocrity:

My husband makes me melt when he brings me coffee in bed. It’s something his done since our relationship started. When he corrals the kids long enough to do it now, it makes me swoon.

Eden G, Co-Founder of www.skinnyscoop.com:

My husband is a fantastic dad.  He loves being with our two children and is truly able to “be in the moment” whether its tossing a ball with my son, teaching my daughter to read or giving them baths.  Watching him be a dad makes me melt.

Jennifer from TheMarthaProject (also known for her acerbic wit as @thenextmartha on Twitter):

Sometimes when he hugs me he grabs my butt.  If he doesn’t need two hands for one cheek?  Bonus.

Smoph from splaton:

I am lucky to have a good man who knows how to speak to me through loving actions. He takes me in his arms and dances with me, and I feel treasured. He cooks for me (remember this one gentleman! Get a couple of good recipes and make it for her occasionally). Also, a gentle massage for my neck and shoulders (with no expectations) and I am his (Aussie Locust will confirm this!). But then, I am a girl who craves physical affection and attention.

An Anonymous friend:

He makes me melt when he is in the middle of a busy day, and I unexpectedly receive a romantic message from him.  When he hugs me, the worst part of any day can disappear. He makes me feel important, loved and cherished as a woman.

And Sarah Baron, yours truly:

The thing that melts me the most is when I witness my husband doing something nice for someone, whether it be me, our kids, a friend or a stranger.  It may be old fashioned, but this sense of being noble, of service to others, somehow really hits me in the gut.  That, or a wink and a smile in my direction, usually do the trick.

Ladies, have anything that you want to add?

Guys, anything surprising?

I really like your answer too Sarah. I feel the same way when Locust is doing something for someone else…

Being a husband I was quite surprised at the first one and the last one! Somehow I guess I need to figure out what my wife’s answer would be. I s’pose she’d say something like “nothing”

I know that I can melt my wife of 32 years buy breaking out the coconut lotion and massaging her feet while just watching a movie (Normally “You’ve got mail”)

    Works every time!

    Ed,
That is a GREAT comment! Love it, especially the part about which movie to watch…
