Fun Tip Tuesdays – Altoids have Another App

Altoids – for what? And why didn’t I know this earlier?

Altoids, those “curiously strong mints,” apparently have some “curious other uses” as well.  And those who know this Altoids trivia are not who you’d expect.

Altoids, aside from being a mint, are considered by some a trick for oral sex.  Most in the Anonymous8 did not know about this particular, ahem, trick.  Apparently, you get the non-cinnamon kind (cinnamon could hurt), and put it in your mouth before oral sex and it can heighten sensations.  So, this was one of the first revelations in the Anonymous8 that made me realize that this was no ordinary group of women and that this was no ordinary conversation.

(Please read the following questions in rapid fire succession so you know what happened after this revelation.)   ”How did you know about this?  What else can you tell me?  What other things do you know about that I don’t?  Are there any other tricks I should know about?”  There was hunger in the questions as we fired them at the one of the women. Apparently, an Anonymous8 member assured us, altoids work  ….  both ways.

Being ridiculously curious, I wanted to know if anyone else knew about this “Altoid thing,” so I surveyed a couple of friends.  My young, under 30 and very hip friend had no idea what I was talking about.  Another 30 year old couple who is also pretty young and hip also had no idea what altoids referred to.  This was interesting.  Here I am, 10 years their senior, and I know a fact about intimacy that they didn’t.  This is not exactly what I expected.  All these younger friends were all interested, mind you, when I went on to explain what it was.  All of their eyes widened.

Now, here’s the surprise.  I asked my 45 year old friend if she had heard of Altoids for this particular use.  And guess what?  She knew exactly what I was talking about.  “Oh, yeah, Monica Lewinsky made that famous.”

Wow – a generation gap in sexual terms.  It’s amazing who knows what these days, especially when the older generation is better versed than the younger one.

This one works! The ice cube one does not… the ice cube is apparently just uncomfortable. Fun blog ladies!

Thanks for the confirmation! Also, you are doing exactly what I hoped for on this site – sharing what you know. That’s what has made this group so helpful – and eye-opening!

Yes, this one does work. So, actually, does anything with menthol or menthol-derivatives in it. (Mint is related to menthol, that’s your connection.) If you don’t like Altoids, options that are a little harder to just happen to have in your bag but which come in assorted flavors include things like (http://www.kamasutra.com/romance/stimulating.lasso) from the Kama Sutra company. New packaging since last I saw it, but seems like the same stuff. Too strong for you/him? Plenty of chapsticks have a small amount of menthol in them.

If you’re allergic to menthol, similar results can be achieved with anything that has bubbles or a fizzing element. (There’s even a kind of imported chocolate called “Firecracker” which has pop-rocks like candy in it…that’d do the trick.)

Just don’t be too overenthusiastic with your new trick…sensitivities vary, and this can be a shortcut to the pain/pleasure threshold.

Thanks, Leslie. This is great, and this is new information to me, which I love, because the more that we get out there and share, the more we learn. That, I guess, was my big lesson. Everyone I have spoken to about Anonymous8 has taught me something new or told me a funny story, which we will share in the upcoming weeks.

I’m in my mid-30′s and had heard this before. Mouthwash also works for a little tingle, rinse mouth and then to town :)
I’d probably stay away from a super strong one like Listerine, that burns in my mouth, I can’t imagine what it would do to him!

Yes, I knew about this and I am over 40. Must be the generational thing. I am curious about your site so I will be looking around. Happy SITS Saturday.
Have you all heard about the bonuses of coconut oil?

It’s a wonderful lubricant. It can be found at Super walmart in the baking aisle. I learned about it’s uses from The Marriage Bed, a website and discussion forum. Anyway, it has anti-baterial properties, is solid when cold and liquid in the summertime. It can be warmed for massages or used in place of KY and the like. And a big tub will last so it’s economical. It has no taste or smell so people who can’t do perfumes or smelly things can use it. I hope is enough info.

Thanks, Michelle, for this information. We may have to look into this and put it into a future post. Really, really appreciate it. Nice when kitchen wisdom can transfer to other domains!

Anything with sugar will cause a HORRIBLE yeast infection. Halls were the method of choice that one former partner of mine used, and I ended up with a yeast infection so bad they thought I had herpes. The More You Know….

Thank you for this. Yes, the more you know, the better. I have to tell you, I learn new things every day from this site.

I have heard of Altoids being used that way before … Having read Amy’s comment above though – yikes. Not sure if that’d be worth the fun night.
