The Wii Gets A New App
Welcome to Fun Tip Tuesdays! Today’s tip is the first one contributed by a reader. As I got to know this reader, who would like to be called Anonymous9, I became inspired by her story. Why? Strip Wii did not come to us from a young 20-something couple, but instead from a 32 year marriage (one that started out very young, but a 32 year marriage nonetheless – all their kids are married).
Anonymous9 and her husband received the Wii Sports Resort for Christmas. (They already owned a Wii.) After a couple of days of playing and learning the ropes, A9’s husband suggested that they play Strip Wii to pass the time before the ball dropped in Times Square on New Years Eve. So, here’s how it went down.
She prepared the food. He picked up the champagne. She knew he was competitive and she felt like she needed to even the playing field, so she added several discrete layers of clothing. Here is her play-by-play report, which began at 7pm -
“We played for about three hours, with thirst-quenching and snacking in between. My husband clearly started out ahead, so I had surrendered some normal layers (for Florida winter). As I began to pull into the lead with the bicycle race and the bowling, it became apparent that I had more than the necessary requirements for clothing. By then I was ahead 6 to 3 (I think) and he had ..nothing but a smile left. We did plenty of laughing and were still 2 hours away from the ball dropping. Ahh, sweet victory. The competition where everyone was a winner!”
This couple is playing kids games at 32 years. Inspiring, I tell you.
Now, it’s your turn. We need your ideas!

Can’t wait to see more FTT tips! Got my pad and paper ready…I’m taking notes!
I bet you are!

I love it! I’m going to try this with my fiance.
I love it! My wife may need the champagne to be interested, so we’ll have to try this after our baby arrives.
I’m pretty sure this one won’t go out of style for a long time – at least until the next game system comes along.
FABULOS way to spend date night – the game where everyone wins! I must shared this with my hubby.
My husband would love this!
Amy,
If you try it, let us know how it goes!
Sarah
I *LIKE* this couple! ::laughs::
Any healthy competition can turn into something like this, if you’re of the right mind, of course — it’s just even more fun when the competition itself just…accentuates…what you’re competing for.
No Wii here, but our more active versions, sometimes doubling as get-the-boring-productive-stuff-that-needs-doing-out-of-the-way-before-we-have-a-houseguest-and-have-to-behave-ourselves-anyway-incentive, have included things like competitions to see who could get their in-view-of-each-other parts of the house totally cleaned first. So maybe he’s got to get all the dishes done, and I’ve got to clean the fridge….whoever is slower to leave things sparkling, loses a layer. Then we might move on to the living room….dusting and straightening up vs. vacuuming. Etc. etc. By the end, if you’re lucky, the house is in great shape, you’re both at least mostly naked and grimy, and you’re VERY ready to get dirty while cleaning up in the shower together. (Ever see the newer version of the movie “Chocolat” ? Given the right state of mind, scrubbing a bathtub can look damn sexy.)
If you’re in a more artistic state of mind, figure-drawing competitions can lead to interesting prizes that you’re quite primed for, as well.
This is what makes couples last…. layers of love! LOL
My husband and I try to encourage each other to have our own hobbies. Then, we decided to share our “hobbies”, so I am learning how to shoot a bow and my husband is sewing…(better than me darn it).
Ann, great thought on how to share hobbies. Interesting about the sewing. How do you like the bow?
My husband and I once played a game of strip Trivial Pursuit, and silly me picked the game, despite the fact that my husband’s brain is like the Grand Canyon and has enough room to collect every bit of useless information he has ever learned on sports, history, pop culture, and more.
Needless to say, I didn’t win and spent much of the game in my birthday suit, but it was so much fun!
A happy marriage doesn’t need to be something that you deem so after reading a checklist in a magazine, or even observing your friends’ marriages. Just have fun, laugh, communicate, and love.
Lovely comment! Couldn’t agree more.
Oh wow! I love this idea! I can’t wait to have a kid free night to try it out on my husband!

Thanks, Sarah, for stopping by.
